Former Broncos starter finds new home in AFC Nort
Sean Payton makes sure to have an effective fullback in his offense. If not for an unfortunate injury, Michael Burton would likely still be his fullback for the . Instead, Burton has with the . Burton signed with the Broncos ahead of the 2023 season, Payton's first with the team. He was the team's starting fullback in every game that season and the subsequent campaign in 2024. The Broncos signed him to a one-year extension ahead of last season, but a hamstring injury forced the Broncos to pivot. That pivot was Adam Prentice, who was a free agent. Prentice played for Payton in New Orleans and coincidentally began his career in Denver as an undrafted free agent. He was terrific for the team in 2025. Prentice played so well that the Broncos re-signed him in March. That spelled the end of the road for Burton. In two seasons with the Broncos, Burton rushed for one touchdown and Erik Askeland Jersey caught 13 pa ses for 73 yards and another score. He was the lead blocker on many big runs for the team but unfortunately, an injury cost him his job. The Broncos felt more comfortable going forward with Prentice, who rushed for 44 yards and caught six pa ses for 53 yards last season. He was a player the Broncos could turn to in short-yardage situations to throw the defense off and he should be a key cog on offense again in 2026. Michael Burton joins Cleveland Browns The Browns will be the 7th NFL team for Burton. A fifth-round pick out of Rutgers in 2015, Burton has played for the , , , Washington and before he came to the Mile High City. He is currently listed as the only fullback on Cleveland's depth chart, so if the team chooses to use that position under new head coach Todd Monken, he should have a great shot to make the team's 53-man roster. HOT READ: The Broncos currently have no competition on the roster for Prentice and knowing how important that position is to Payton's game plan, he is all but a lock to make the team this season.
