Second Star Games, a newly formed development and publishing studio based in Manchester, has chosen the fantasy-adventure Neverland: A Peter Pan Adventure as its inaugural title.

The company is led by Tom Stone, formerly managing director at TT Games, and staffed with many veterans from the team behind the LEGO licensed titles.

Grahame “Chily” Chilton is backing the venture as lead investor; he was an early supporter of the original LEGO Star Wars project in 2005 and previously worked alongside Stone on a Great Ormond Street fundraising board between 2014 and 2016.

Great Ormond Street Hospital and the hospital’s charity — which helped develop the new in-game world — have granted Second Star Games a long-term, worldwide exclusive licence to create a series of video games based on the Peter Pan property.

Royalties from game sales will be directed to Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity to help fund care for seriously ill children treated at the hospital.

The hospital has held rights to Peter Pan since 1929, when author J. M. Barrie transferred them to the institution as a lasting gift.

Jenny Martin, senior brand licensing manager at the charity, said she is thrilled to partner with Second Star Games to introduce Neverland’s spirit of adventure and imagination to a new generation of players, and noted that every copy sold will support the hospital’s work.
