Konami officially announced that Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will launch on August 28, 2025. The reveal came with a new teaser trailer, which confirmed the return of the Snake vs. Monkey minigame. However, there's a twist for players on different platforms.
While the teaser showcased an Ape Escape monkey appearing in the jungle environment on PlayStation 5 and PC, Xbox Series X|S players will face off against a different challenge. Instead of battling Pipo Monkeys, Xbox players will engage in Snake vs. Bomberman. Yes, you read that right.
In the original game, the Snake vs. Monkey minigame unlocked two special items for Snake— the Monkey Mask, which let him take on a first-person perspective, and Banana Camouflage, which allowed him to make even spoiled food edible. It’s currently unclear whether the Bomberman minigame will offer Xbox players similar rewards or something entirely different.
While many are excited for Metal Gear Solid Delta, there’s been some skepticism about its approach. IGN’s preview described it as more of a polished HD remaster rather than the elaborate remake fans had hoped for, especially with the introduction of Snake's new first-person perspective.
