Ru sini adds that other Steelers candidates for the head-coaching position have been notified that the team is "moving forward" with McCarthy. "BREAKING: The Pittsburgh Steelers are working to hire Mike McCarthy to be their next head coach, a source tells The Athletic," Ru sini reported. "Coaching candidates were informed the Steelers are moving forward with this hire." McCarthy will now be the fourth head coach the Steelers have hired since 1969, joining Tomlin, Chuck Noll and Bill Cowher. A Super Bowl-winning head coach, McCarthy brings a career .608 winning percentage to Pittsburgh. His Super Bowl victory came during his 13-year stint with the Packers, where he posted a 125-77-2 record (.618). McCarthy then coached the Cowboys for five seasons. He posted three 12-win seasons that were sandwiched in between 6-10 and 7-10 campaigns. The hire of McCarthy is a clear indication that the Steelers are not going to be blowing up their roster anytime soon.
