Valued at USD 193.08 million in 2023, the Delivery Robots Market is projected to reach USD 251.9 million in 2024 and USD 2,148.92 million by 2032, growing at a CAGR of 30.7% during the forecast period 2024–2032. Key players include Boxbot, Ninebot, Kiwibot, Cleveron AS, Nuro, Inc., Robby Technologies, Panasonic Corporation, Piaggio & C. SpA, ST Engineering and Starship Technologies.

Delivery robots are becoming increasingly popular in the delivery industry as technology has made them more sophisticated, efficient and affordable, making them a viable alternative to traditional methods. Advanced sensors help them navigate complex routes and avoid obstacles, supporting accurate and timely last-mile delivery.

Investment and E-Commerce Drive Adoption

Increasing venture investment is estimated to drive the Delivery Robots Market. In March 2022, Nvidia invested nearly USD 10 million to help Serve Robotics, an Uber spinoff, extend its sidewalk delivery robots outside Los Angeles and San Francisco. The ever-expanding e-commerce industry also augments demand, as online retailers constantly look for ways to improve supply chain and delivery operations; nearly 2.3 billion people were estimated to buy goods and services online in 2022.

Online grocers and retailers such as Flipkart, Big Basket and Amazon are developing robots for deliveries of goods, and in January 2019 Amazon launched Scout, a self-driving delivery device. These innovations and competition are leading to more advanced and efficient products.

Segment Leaders Shape Product Strategy

The Delivery Robots Market is segmented by load carrying capacity, number of wheels, end use and region. The load carrying capacity up to 10 kg segment is expected to grow at the fastest CAGR because e-commerce retailers and logistics companies focus on small parcels that typically weigh under 10 kg. By number of wheels, the 4 wheels segment dominated in 2022 as the robots suit last-mile delivery and food delivery and are often more affordable. Four-wheeled delivery robots are more stable and carry heavier loads than two- or three-wheeled robots; at Nanyang Technological University, a four-wheeled robot named FoodBot distributes lunch and dinner orders.

Food and beverages held the largest share by end use in 2022, since the sector needs fast and reliable delivery. Digital ordering is rising at around three times the rate of on-site ordering, and more than 112 million Americans reported using a food delivery service. In February 2023, Dubai introduced food delivery robots, known as Talbots, through the Roads and Transport Authority, the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority and Talabat.

COVID-19 and the Shift to Contactless Models

The pandemic shifted consumer behavior toward online shopping and home delivery, increasing demand for faster and more efficient options. In June 2020, hundreds of Pudu Robotics Pudubots offered delivery services in hospitals worldwide, and in August 2020 Bengaluru-based Invento Robotics launched a robot for medicine and food delivery. Many companies contributed during COVID-19 by providing contactless delivery options.

Regional and Competitive Outlook for the Delivery Robots Market

North America is expected to hold the largest share during the forecast period, owing to the significant presence of manufacturers and technological advancement. In the U.S., sidewalk delivery robots powered by artificial intelligence handle curbside collection and food deliveries; in December 2022 Uber Eats partnered with Cartken, and in October 2022 Starship Technologies partnered with Grubhub for college campuses, and in December 2022 Kiwibot launched 25 automated delivery robots at Loyola Marymount University. Asia Pacific is the fastest-growing region, supported by logistics advances; the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing reported that social logistics rose 9.2% year-on-year in 2021 to nearly USD 52.6 trillion.

Recent developments include Nuro's February 2025 collaboration with Arm on its third-generation robot, which doubled cargo space, and the October 2024 launch of Starship Technologies and Bolt in Tallinn, serving 180,000 users. The report also lists the limited operating range of ground delivery robots as a challenge.
