It was only last month when Chris Paul, the All-Star point guard of Phoenix Suns reached his 10,0000th career assists and passed Oscar Robertson to get on the 6th position of All-time assists in a Victory over Memphis Grizzlies. Now on Monday, 19th April 2021, the great PG has added an accolade to his credentials when he upped his scale in NBA history by reaching 10, 142 career assists. By doing so, he left behind Magic Johnson to take his 5th place on the list of NBA’s all-time leading assists.

Paul aka CP3 started his Monday night game with nine assists short to surpass Magic Johnson and with an average of 8.7 assists per game. In the 4th quarter of the game, Paul shot a flying pass to Devin Booker who accomplished a streaking dunk consequent to Paul’s full-court assist. With the said dunk, Paul completed his 10,142nd career assist. One after another, Paul made his attempts and ended up with 13 assists in Phoenix Sun’s 128-127 overtime victory against Milwaukee Bucks.

His precise words on Monday night referring to Magic Johnson were that “There will never be another Magic,” he added excitedly that “Showtime. You know what I mean?”

Next up on the list of all-time assists is Mark Jackson, another NBA legend who played for the top team such as Los Angeles Clippers, New York Knicks, Denver Nuggets, Indiana Pacers, and others. Paul not only has a fat chance to surpass Mark Johnson but he can hop up to second place as well, leaving behind Steve Nash who is just one pass ahead of Mark Jackson. Paul began Monday night with an 8.7 per game average. He needs 22 more games to pass Mark Jackson if he continues to go with the same average.

Paul can be seen as the future Hall of Fame as a point guard with a per-game average of 8.7 assists this season. The current scenario reveals that Phoenix Suns have only 15 games left, 7 games short of Paul’s 22 required games to win the next spots on the leaderboard of leading assists. But still, Paul has a good chance of catching both the fourth and third spots if he gets a chance at playoffs. Otherwise, he will have to wait for the next season to get on the top 3 positions of the all-time assist leaders. Another scenario that can provide Paul with a chance to pass the next two levels of leading assist is if Phoenix Suns make it to the postseason.

Only a handful of players like the legendary Stockton and Kidd have a position on both the leaderboards and Chris joins their company.
